Hey, someone dropped a pokeball in the grass- oh wait, it’s a Foongus! Even though they look like Pokeballs… they’re not. They’re little Mushroom Fungi. Hm. I guess this is one of those natural adaptations that developed for ornateness rather than camouflage.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this Foongus pattern make and hide within your pokeball stash!

Materials
- Yarn: red, white, black
- 3.5 mm crochet hook – fiber-fill stuffing
- Felt: pink (for nose), balck (for eyes)
- Scissors, yarn needle for assembly
Abbreviations
R(#): Round number
MR: magic ring
Sc: single crochet
Inc: increase (2 sc in same stitch)
Dec: decrease (decrease 2 sc into one)
I recommend using Invisible Decrease
Sl st: slip stitch
f/o: fasten off

Body
Using White:
R1. 6 sc in MR (6)
R2. ‘Sc 1, inc’ around (9)
In back loops only:
R3. ‘Sc 2, inc’ around (12)
Continue as usual (crocheting in both loops):
R4. ‘Sc 1, inc’ around (18)
R5. Sc around (18)
R6. ‘Sc 4, dec’ around (15)
R7. ‘Sc 3, dec’ around (12)
R8. Dec around (6)
R9. Sc around (6).
Do not close, f/o.
Arms
Make 2- using white:
R1. 3 sc in MR (3)
R2. Sc 2, Inc (4)
R3. Sc around (4)
F/o, leave a tail for sewing.
Mushroom Cap
You will be alternating between red and white. Begin with red:
R1. 6 sc in MR (6)
R2. Inc around (12)
R3. red: ‘Sc 1, inc’ 3 times, white: ‘Sc 1, inc’ 3 times (18)
R4. red: ‘Sc 2, inc’ 3 times, white: ‘Sc 2, inc’ 3 times (24)
R5-R6. red: Sc 12 white: sc 12 (24) twice.
At this point using black- surface crochet a line across the work over the seam between red and white. I did this twice to create a thick line. Continue crochet in the round with black:
R7. In back loops only: Sc around (24)
R8. In front loops only: Sl st around (24) F/o and weave in the black yarn.
Close the under-side of the mushroom cap as follows:
With white yarn, join onto the unworked (back) loops of R8:
R9. ‘Sc 2, dec’ around (18)
R10. ‘Sc 1, dec’ around (12)
R11. Dec around (6)
The opening does not need to be closed. Stuff well.
Button
Begin with white:
R1. 6 sc in MR (6)
Switch to black. In front loops only:
R2. ‘Sl st. , Sl st. inc (two sl st in same stitch)’ around (9)
F/o, leave a tail for sewing.
Assembly of Crochet Foongus
Sew the button onto the top of the mushroom cap. Attach the top of the body to the underside of the cap using whip stitch. Attach the arms to either side of the body.
Facial details were added using needle felting and unwound yarn ends/yarn fibers.
