Wait a second- that’s not a Pikachu. It’s Mimikyu, the mysterious Alolan pokemon is somehow both scary and cute at the same time. Crochet your own with this free pattern! Little Mimikyu amigurumi stands approximately 3.5 inches tall and 2 inches wide.

Materials
- Yarn: yellow, brown, black, red (medium)
- 3.5 mm crochet hook – fiber-fill stuffing
- Scissors, yarn needle for assembly
Abbreviations
R(#): Round number
MR: magic ring
Sc: single crochet
Inc: increase (2 sc in same stitch)
Dec: decrease (decrease 2 sc into one)
I recommend using Invisible Decrease
Hdc: half double crochet
Ch: chain
sl st: slip stitch
f/o: fasten off

Head
Starting with yellow yarn:
R1. 6 sc in MR (6)
R2. Inc around (12)
R3. ‘Sc 1, inc’ around (18)
R4. ‘Sc 2, inc’ around (24)
R5-R8. Sc around (24) four times
R9. ‘Sc 2, dec’ around (18)
R10. ‘Sc 1, dec’ around (12)
R11. Dec around (6) F/o, leave a long tail to attach to body.
Ear #1
Starting with black yarn:
R1. 4 Sc in MR (4)
R2. Sc, inc, Sc, inc (6)
R3-R4. Sc around (6) two times
Switch to yellow yarn:
R5. Sc 3, dc 3 (6)
R6. Sc 2, inc, Sc 2, inc (8)
R7-R9. Sc around (8) three times. F/o, leave a long tail to attach to head.
Ear #2 (More Bent Ear)
Starting with black yarn:
R1. 4 Sc in MR (4)
R2. Sc, hdc-inc, hdc, inc (6)
R3. Sc around (6)
R4. Sl st., sl st., sc, 3 hdc (6)
R5. 3 hdc, 3 sc (6)
Switch to yellow yarn:
R6. Sc 1, inc, Sc 2, inc, sc 1 (8)
R7. Sc around (8)
R8. Sc 1, inc, Sc 4, inc, Sc 1 (10)
R9. Sc around (10) F/o, leave a long tail to attach to head.
Body
Starting with yellow:
R1. 6 Sc in MR (6)
R2. Inc around (12)
R3. ‘Sc 1, inc’ around (18)
R4. ‘Sc 5, inc’ around (21)
R5. Sc around (21)
R6. ‘Sc 6, inc’ around (24)
R7-R9. Sc around (24) three times
Continue on to Mimiky’s “Skirt.”
R10. Working in the outer loops:
In the next 4 stitches:
(Sl st., sc),
In next sc: (Hdc, dc) chain 2,
In next sc: (dc, hdc),
In next sc: (sc, sl st.)
Repeat the above sequence 5 more times. F/o the yellow yarn. Once finished hide the yarn tail inside the work.
Now using black yarn, resume working in the round along the inner loops of R10.
R11. Sc around (24)
R12. ‘Sc 3, inc’ around (30)
Slip stitch to the first black sc.
R13. Sc 2, then working in the outer loops:
In the next 4 stitches:

In next sc: (Hdc, dc) chain 2,

Repeat the above sequence 6 more times. Chain 1.

Tail
Using brown yarn:
R1. Chain 10, sl st into first chain to make a loop (10)
R2-R3. Sc around (10) two times
R4. Chain 5
Then continuing along round:
Sc 2,
Skip over the next 5 sc (leave unworked),
Sc 3 (10)
R5. Sc around (10)
R6. Sc 2, chain 8,
Then, continuing along round:
sc 3,
Leave the remaining 5 sc’s unworked (13).
R7. Sc around (13)
R8. Sc 6, leave the remaining sc unworked.
f/o. Sew shut the tail end openings
Assembly of Crochet Mimikyu
Attach the ears to the head. Attach the head to the body in an ‘off-kilter’ position (if desired)- such that the more straight ear is higher than the more bent ear. Attach the brown tail to the body beneath the skirt. Add the cheeks, face, and skirt eyes with yarn embroidery and/or felt pieces if desired.
