Charmander was my very first starter in Pokemon! The nostalgia is real. Now for the first time I’ve decided to release this pattern for free for your enjoyment. Enjoy crocheting Charmander- complete with fluffy flame tail!

Materials
- Yarn: Orange, Tan, Red, Yellow (medium ply was used)
- 3.5 mm crochet hook – fiber-fill stuffing
- Felt: black, white, green (for the eyes), felting needle if desired
- Scissors, yarn needle for assembly
Abbreviations
R(#): Round number
MR: magic ring
Sc: single crochet
Inc: increase (2 sc in same stitch)
Hdc: half double crochet
Hdc inc: Hdc increase (2 hdc in same stitch)
Dec: decrease (decrease 2 sc into one) I recommend using Invisible Decrease
Tch: turn chain (chain one and switch directions)
Ch: chain
Sl st: slip stitch
f/o: fasten off

Tail Flames
Cut several pieces of red and yellow yarn into strands of approximately 2.5 inches long. Latch hook the yarn pieces onto the end of the tail as shown:
Assembly of Crochet Charmander
Legs: Attach the feet to the legs, covering the hole at the end of each leg.
Body: Attach the tail to the back, and the legs to either side on the front, balancing so that the body stays upward. Above the legs, attach the arms. Finally, attach the belly.
Details: Use felt pieces and or needle felting to add the eyes and mouth as desired.
